The Youth Pride Association Condemns Governor Ron DeSantis and Florida Legislature
This comes amid an expansion of “Don’t Say Gay” law, and proposed Anti-LGBTQ legislation
Camarillo, CA (September 20th, 2021) – Last month, Youth Pride Association (YPA) President, Cameron Bartosiewicz, received the California State University Channel Islands President’s Award for Student Innovation for his Acceptance Week program.
This award for innovation recognizes a student at CSU Channel Islands who has developed and implemented an innovative program that is unique and provided significant contributions to CSUCI and the border community.
The Acceptance Week program is implemented in local high schools to provide a positive and affirming environment for LGBTQ students through a variety of methods of providing education and support. YPA is bringing this program to Royal High School in Semi Valley this academic year.
“It is vital that school administrators take major steps to provide an accepting environment for LGBTQ students,” said Cameron Bartosiewicz, President of the Youth Pride Association. “This award signifies CSU Channel Islands renewed commitment to ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment for all students, no matter their sexual orientation or gender identity.”
